Q: Where does the session take place?

All newborn sessions take place in my baby-dedicated studio in Warfield, Bracknell. The Studio is specifically built and tailored for Newborn & Baby Photography. It is set in private grounds providing clients with a peaceful and relaxing environment to enjoy the experience in and enabling us to have full access to all of the beautiful lighting set ups, props, and backdrops to work with.

Q: What should we wear for the session?

I recommend soft, neutral tones and simple, timeless clothing to keep the focus on your baby. Avoid bold patterns or logos, and choose outfits that complement each other for beautiful, cohesive family portraits. Please do not worry about outfits for your newborn unless there is something sentimental that you would like to bring with you.

When should I book my Newborn Session?

Accepted Answer

To secure availability for a session, I recommend booking and adding your due date to my diary just after your 12 or 20-week scan. However, bookings are welcome at any stage of pregnancy, and I also take last-minute bookings if your baby has already arrived. Diary permitting, I will always do my best to accommodate so please do get in touch to check.

How do I book without knowing exactly when I may go in to labor?

Of course, your little one can arrive anytime, and labor is unpredictable! Upon booking, your due date will go in my diary as a guide so that I may guarantee availability around that time. Once your baby is born, simply reach out, and we’ll schedule your session accordingly. I only take a limited number of newborn shoots each month, ensuring flexibility around actual birthdates.

What is the best age to photograph a newborn?

Accepted Answer

The ideal time for a newborn session is up to 3 weeks of age. At this stage, babies are sleepier, less easily disturbed and naturally still like to curl up in womb-like poses. After this time babies are a little harder to settle, can be more sensitive to touch, and colic and baby acne can sometimes present itself. However, that said, I can photograph newborns at any age, so if your little one is older, don’t worry—we can still capture gorgeous images of them and even some in a newborn style.

Can I still book if my baby is more than two weeks old?

Yes absolutely, I love capturing babies of all ages and we can get beautiful images at all stages of your little ones life. Sessions are very much baby led so we are likely to get a beautiful mix of awake and sleepy shots depending on your babies age and still get some newborn style images up to 3 months.

How long does a newborn session typically last?

A newborn session typically lasts around 2-3 hours. allowing plenty of time for feeding, settling, and capturing a variety of beautiful images. The session is completely baby-led, so we take things at their pace to ensure they are comfortable and happy throughout. When young siblings are involved the process can take a little bit longer.

What if my baby is unsettled?

Please do not worry about this, I have been working with newborns for over 15 years and have lots of experience in settling and soothing them so that we can capture and create a beautiful gallery of memories for you. My newborn sessions are also very much baby led with plenty of time for soothing and feeding.

Do you Include parent and sibling photos together with Newborn during the session?

Absolutely! The session includes individual images of your baby, as well as your newborn with siblings & parents as these images create beautiful, meaningful memories of your growing family. It can also be a baby-only session.

Question 9

Can our dog be included in some images?

Accepted Answer

I am a huge dog lover and am more than happy to include your fur baby in some of the family photos. However, I do ask that you let me know upon booking so that we can discuss the best possible way to achieve this. Newborn safety is always my priority, so I do ask that your pet remains on a lead in the studio whilst I am working and kept by your side. All pets need to be of a calm nature and obedient for me to be able to include them in family images with your newborn baby.
